Dr. Laura Ingram

Dr. Ingram recently earned a doctorate in public policy from Virginia Tech, where her dissertation focused on ethical practices in public service. After graduating from King University in Bristol, Tennessee with a B.A. in English (summa cum laude, with honors in independent study), she received a M.A. in English literature from the University of Tennessee.
She subsequently began a professional career that spanned twenty years with the U.S. Forest Service as a contract specialist. This work, which began on the Cherokee National Forest, eventually led her to assignments throughout the Southeast and Appalachia in a variety of circumstances and environments.
She has taught literature, rhetoric, composition, and government classes at the university level. A passionate writer and consumer of information who has been published in a variety of forums, she loves writing poetry, listening to all kinds of music, and learning more about the history of East Tennessee, where her family has lived for seven generations.
